Its website shows a black and white photo of the four members of its team, three chefs and a manager, ranging from 30 to 32 years old, with a statement about creating a restaurant on their ‘own culinary visions and terms’, ambitious and extraordinary, ‘far from chive cross garnish, white cloths and bowing waiters.’

This review will be sadly lacking in photographs since it was our first proper meal on land, after a long journey In fact, I was worried that we might fall asleep, face front into our herring, but how could we not be brought to attention and wakefulness by such great food and service in a cool, small industrial chic setting?

Nordic cuisine (or at least the nordic cuisine of Volt) had a clean composition, not simple in the techniques or the way it was put together, but a small number of ingredients, each with a distinct flavour that stood out.

While there is a protein in most dishes, the vegetables shone just as much, it wasn’t a heavy meal, just right for us to have the six courses and matching wine.

All in all: what an amazing meal, and introduction to a fabulous philosophy and style of cooking, in a super-cool atmosphere with impeccable service.

And as the most recent restaurant in Stockholm to be awarded a Michelin star, it is a sign as good as any that this really is a place worth visiting.

Following the last years trend of Scandinavian fine dining Volt fits well into the stereotype.

In the last years there has been much talk about the new Nordic movement in food, and Volt has narrowed it down even further focusing on the essence of Swedish food.

The menu offers little guidance to what exactly will appear on the plate,and it is very much like the restaurant in itself, uncluttered Scandinavian interior goes hand in hand with the stripped menu that simply states the main produce and leaves the rest up to your imagination.

Price wise, Volt is still on the low scale for Michelin restaurants in Stockholm.

The first law was a "solrosfrösotto," i.e. a risotto on sunflower seeds topped with fried potatoes and dried seaweed.

The focus is only on the great food and wine.

The service is wonderful, great wine pairing, and I very much appreciate the attention the chefs give to foraging for seasonal ingredients.

Great place for gourmet food and interesting dishes.

Service is great and wines too.

Service was spectacular, food as amazing, the pairings enhanced every bite.
