A new museum opens this week: Vikingaliv | stoRy touRs

For example, we are only one week away from the opening of a new museum in Stockholm, Vikingaliv: A true adventure in the life of Vikings!

The new museum is going to be situated next to other wonderful Swedish museums right on the island of Djurgården at Djurgårdsvägen 48.

The innovative museum lets you live the real Viking Age right in nowadays Stockholm.

You are going to experience it through the mesmerizing Viking Ride and the themed museum’s restaurant and shop.

The museum will be open every day between 10.00 and 20.00.

Typiska maträtter: Mejramkorv med potatispuré och coleslaw på rotselleri och silverlök.

Ekologiskt tänk: Det mesta på menyn är ekologiskt och säsongsbetonat.

Nej, det är inte riktigt rättvist att likna Glöd vid E-Types vikingarestaurang Aifur.

Till skillnad från den fulländade Valhalla- och Särimnerkitschen på Aifur i Gamla stan serverar Glöd modern nordisk mat där mustiga grytor, vegetarisk matlagning och matiga smörgåsar står i rampljuset.

Men för den riktigt vikingabitna finns ändock en "vikingapanna" med fläsklägg och betor på menyn – och givetvis mjöd att skölja ner den med.

Restaurang Glöd - Vikingaliv

Glöd, som är museets restaurang, har ett av Stockholms bästa lägen med utsikt över vattnet vid Wasahamnen.

Fokuset ligger på mat med modern nordisk känsla där allt är tillagat från grunden med noggrant utvalda råvaror efter säsong.

Här serveras alltifrån den rustika Vikingapannan till matiga sallader och bakverk.

Såklart finns här också mjöd att dricka för den som önskar!

For groups of 50 persons minimum it is possible to rent Vikingaliv and restaurant Glöd.

Vikingaliv offer several menu packages where the entrance to the museum and a trip with Ragnfrids Saga is combined with a meal at Glöd.

We will gladly book a meeting so that we can show you the museum and hear more about what you are interested in.

We can give tours to groups of 25 persons maximum, of course we can arrange several tours for bigger parties.

Restaurant Glöd - Vikingaliv

Glöd is the museum restaurant, situated in one of the city’s prime locations, overlooking the water in Wasahamnen harbour.

With quality in focus, this restaurant serves well prepared food with a modern Nordic touch that is as inviting as the décor.

On the menu at Glöd you’ll find a mix of hearty stews, vegetarian dishes as well as filling sandwiches and salads.

Real Viking enthusiasts can order the Viking-inspired “Glöd’s Vikingapanna” and, naturally, there is mead for those who want to try it.

The restaurant is run by Anna Broms, owner of the popular restaurant Broms on Karlaplan.

Vikingaliv, Stocholm’s newest museum, would like to show a correct image and relies only on established facts.

For those who have to admit that they do not really know a lot of the Viking age, the museum has a comprehensive timeline.

One of the highlights of the museum is a replica of a Viking.

Through DNA research on a skeleton from a museum in Sigtuna, they could reconstruct how a Viking looked.

The guides in the museum are very helpful and knowledgeable about the Viking Age and they can give you extra information if you want.
