Dining facilities at the venerable department store NK has long been sadly neglected, this has thankfully changed with the opening of Bobergs Matsal by two starred chef Björn Franatzén.

The venue really encapsulates an elegant setting with classic as well as modern cuisine influences, and combines them into one of the best places for a fancy lunch.

In comparison to his main restaurant Frantzén, the food at Boberg Matsal is much more classical even though it is with a modern touch.

The target audience here are business people for lunch of weekdays, but the weekly Business lunch menu is really good value for money even if you are not here for a business lunch, and affluent Stockholmers and tourists for the weekend who want to indulge a better wine lunch or their lovely afternoon tea.

And it is just something about indulging a long, great lunch on a Saturday with some really nice wine in a bit of a formal dining setting.

“I don’t know of any other restaurant in the world that looks anything like what we’re creating here”, says Björn Frantzén.

“A visit to Frantzén will be a culinary experience as well as a journey through a completely renovated 19th century building, with the addition of a lift just for the restaurant.

While the rebuilding work has been underway, Frantzén’s test kitchen has been a hive of activity, with the staff working hard to create dishes for the new restaurant menu.

“The new Frantzén has the same gastronomic approach and philosophy as the previous restaurant”, says Björn Frantzén.

The restaurant will be run by Björn Frantzén and head chef Marcus Jernmark.

Our gastronomic idea has its roots in the classic French kitchen with elements from the Nordics, by Björn Frantzén and Fredrik Björlin with his team.

Bobergs Matsal was the architect Ferdinand Boberg’s last project, and it was finished in 1915. ”

Björn Frantzén  sprinkles his star quality over a glamorous 100-year-old as  he builds a classic restaurant in the historical environment of the old dining room.

Plan 4 i NK-huset har hottats upp med inte mindre än tre restauranger och en vinbar, alla med mästerkocken Björn Frantzén vid spakarna.

Bra att veta: De fyra avdelningarna Bobergs Matsal, Nordiska Kantinen, Botanique och Gastons Vinbar har varsin hemsida: bobergsmatsal.se, nordiskakantinen.se, botanique.se och gastonvin.se.

Botanique och Gastons vinbar följer varuhusets öppettider.

En sak till: Affärslunch kostar 345 kr för två rätter och 395 kr för tre rätter.

Här har maten nästan haute cuisine-ambitioner (med priser därefter), och vanliga dödliga shoppare kanske hellre satsar på Nordiska Kantinens snygga brickluncher för dryga hundringen eller de innovativa och moderna salladerna som Botanique blandar till.
