Café Saturnus – French Restaurant and Café | Hotel Diplomat
A must for all cinnamon bun-lovers!
Café Saturnus with their renowned buns size XL, is my favorite place to go for a Saturday morning coffee and a freshly baked croissant.
Think Paris, a genuine French bakery feel and crowded, homely atmosphere – the perfect spot to enjoy the perfect cinnamon bun.
Brunch favorites, hearty salads, sandwiches and delicious pastries are also on the menu.
Eat Like Karl Ove Knausgård in Stockholm

We’ve narrowed them down to six – treat them as an amuse bouche to whet the appetite, leaving you hungry enough to pick up the book and discover more of Karl Ove Knausgård’s culinary Stockholm.
Located on the island of Djurgården, Blå Porten is a charming restaurant/café where you can get a hearty lunch or treat yourself to dinner and a glass of wine (there’s always something meaty, fishy and vegetarian on the menu).
When Knausgård visited Blå Porten with his partner Linda and their baby daughter one day in winter, his mind was pretty much made up before he even looked at the menu.
Fresh fish, various cuts of meat, cheeses from near and far, a wide variety of grains, nuts and dried fruit, crusty breads and sweet buns, chocolates and coffee.
Opening Hours: Mon – Thu 10.00 am – 6.00 pm Fri 11 am – 7.00 pm Sat 10.00 am – 4.00 pm Sun Closed This is where Karl Ove would often join Linda for lunch.
CAFE SATURNUS - S Marks The Spots
food
If you visit Stockholm and have a major sweet tooth like me, a pit stop at Café Saturnus is almost mandatory for a very simple reason: the city’s best and biggest cinnamon bun (or kanelbullar for the natives)!
With the help of my travel companion, I also tried the cardamom bun, which was even better!
Having spent an intense day and night on Saturday walking and partying around the city, Café Saturnus was our first choice to enjoy a lazy Sunday brunch before taking a cruise at the Swedish archipelago (strongly recommended too for first-time visitors).
We sat at their cute terrace (I fell in love with the heart-shaped iron chairs) and spent a few good hours of chatting and people browsing.
We had eggs, coffee (reeeally good) and the above mentioned sweet treats, which were more than enough for two (or even three dare I say).
Café Saturnus • 10 things to do in Stockholm: Breakfast & Lunch
This French style casual chic cafe with its mosaic floor and striped wallpapers is famous for its huge cinnamon buns and pastries but there’s more than just sweets.
Next to pastries, Café Saturnus is a popular hangout which also serves royal salads, tasty sandwiches and coffee.
It’s the perfect spot for breakfast, lunch or brunch, making Café Saturnus loved by many.

Others think it is over-rated.
I’m undecided on this one – so you can make up your own mind… It has to be said that there are lots of good things going for Café Saturnus: The verdict: The jury is out.
