Shawna Cepeda was dining at BJ’s restaurant and Brewhouse in West Covina when she noticed her salad tasted unusually bitter, according to her June 13 Yelp review.
She informed the restaurant’s manager, who offered to comp her family’s meal, but made the group pay for their drinks, she said.
About a week after the incident, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health inspected the restaurant, finding no health code violations, the San Gabriel Valley Tribune reported.
The restaurant said it had launched an internal investigation into how the frog ended up on her plate.
Restaurant staff told Cepeda that a vendor provides produce to the restaurant, according to Cepeda’s review.
