Konditori Valand Stockholm | Spotted by Locals

Stepping into this café for a cup of coffee will bring you back in time.

You will travel back more than 60 years to Stockholm of 1954 when Konditori Valand first opened.

Until only a couple of years ago, the original owners were still running what has become an institution in neighborhood Vasastan.

This is an outstanding achievement considering how fast things change around us all the time.

Forget getting your name on a cup or a macchiato or any other type of coffee other than regular brewed coffee, for that matter.

Residents flock here for a delectable marriage of Italian, French and Swedish food.

In 1954 Stellan Åström designed and opened a café and hired a young Polish woman to work there.

More than 60 years later Magdalena, who became Mrs Åström, still comes in each week to bake an array of traditional Swedish pastries.

The superlative brew here is sourced from Lund-based Love Coffee Roasters; modest but excellent food completes the offering.

Few patrons take their coffee to go: the atmosphere is as much of an attraction as the black stuff.

Konditori Valand – Wikipedia

10 of Stockholm's Top Patisseries

In fact, they have 22 different locations in Stockholm, making them the perfect place to pick up a sweet treat on the go.

One of their locations is in Stockholm central station, so you can grab a slice of chocolate cake or a cinnamon bun to enjoy on your train journey.

A truly lovely and charming place, Fosch Artisan was created by a husband-and-wife team, one French and the other Swedish, combining the best of both cultures to create a modern, creative, and innovative patisserie and bakery.

Patisserie Brot is aiming to do something a little bit different in order to stand out from other places in the city.

It is much less serious about itself than many of the French style patisseries and many of its pastries are Swedish, including cinnamon buns, chocolate balls, and cardamom buns.

Review: Generator Stockholm Hostel | Minka Guides

Review analysis
location   ambience   food   staff   facilities

There are 796 beds in 233 rooms, so Generator Stockholm is a big, vibrant hostel that benefits from being shiny, new and well-designed to suit fun, budget-minded travellers.

Situated in the north of Stockholm, on the border of Norrmalm and Vasastan, the Generator hostel is an easy 10-minute walk from Central Station.

They also have 6-bed women-only dorms and 4-bed dorms, I really liked my room and it was definitely one of the best hostel rooms I had stayed in.

There are also a couple of different private room options for those who are travelling as a couple, with a group or would like the social buzz of staying in a hostel whilst having their own space.

The desk is at the entrance to the general cafe/bar area on the ground floor and it is really lovely: flooded with natural light, there are three large booths and multiple smaller tables and looks more like a designer restaurant than hostel bar.
